Interactive Map of Natural Resources Launched in Kazakhstan
ASTANA – The website Tabigat.gov.kz has unveiled a cutting-edge interactive map that details the nation’s natural resources, as announced by Nurlan Kurmalayev, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, during a briefing on December 10 at the Central Communications Service (CCS).
Comprehensive Geographic Information Platform
“This platform serves as an invaluable resource for understanding the environmental conditions and natural resource distribution across our country,” remarked Kurmalayev. He highlighted that users can explore various aspects such as historical pollution levels, waste management facilities, and vital geographical data concerning water bodies; protected natural zones; recreational sites; wildlife habitats and migration corridors; along with designated hunting areas.
Enhancing Public Engagement in Ecotourism
According to Kurmalayev, this map facilitates equal access to extensive data regarding environmental conservation and natural resources. To foster interest in ecotourism, all relevant features included on the interactive map are also integrated with popular online mapping services. As reported by Kazinform, this integration allows citizens to easily retrieve information needed for planning their excursions.
Leveraging Technology for Environmental Monitoring
One standout aspect of this interactive tool is its incorporation of satellite monitoring technology to identify instances of illegal dumping activities, unauthorized logging operations, and heat anomalies within state forest areas. The monitoring system currently focuses on 46 key locations throughout densely populated regions and major urban centers.
This initiative aims not only to promote sustainable practices but also enhances public awareness regarding ecological issues affecting Kazakhstan’s diverse landscapes.
