A total of 28 cars will be on the joint FIA TCR World Tour, TCR South America and TCR Brazil grid at Interlagos this weekend as the international series hits season mid-point.

Norbert Michelisz of Hyundai is still the man to beat, heading the standings ahead of Lynk & Co rival Yann Ehrlacher.

Michelisz has shown his signature consistency this season and has built up a 22-point lead despite not having won a race since the Vallelunga season opener.

While Ehrlacher is the only driver to have won twice this year, the Frenchman has lacked consistency but has shown strong pace – with Lynk & Co Cyan Racing having claimed the last four race victories.

Michelisz’s team-mate Mikel Azcona is just two points behind Ehrlacher in third place and looked set for is first win of the season in the first race at Mid-Ohio until a technical issue dropped him to third.

Esteban Guerrieri is the top Honda driver in fourth place, four points behind Azcona, and is also chasing his first win of the year.

Azcona will carry the most compensation weight this weekend with 40kg, Thed Björk and Michelisz 30kg, Ehrlacher 20kg and Ma Qing Hua 10kg.

Juan Ángel Rosso of Paladini Racing (Toyota) heads the TCR South America standings, five points ahead of PMO Racing’s (Peugeot) Pedro Cardoso.

Cupra driver Raphael Reis tops the TCR Brazil standings by just one point ahead of Cardoso.

Last year saw the TCR South America field joining the TCR World Tour field twice, in Uruguay and Argentina, with the local drivers struggling to break into the top fight and it remains to be seen whether that will change for this year.

The race weekend starts with two free practice sessions and qualifying on Saturday, followed by two races on Sunday.
