Your article (‘This platform gave me everything’: street performers lament the cessation of busking at Leicester Square, Report, 17 April) regarding the cessation of busking in Leicester Square, London, failed to adequately address the consequences of amplified music on nearby workers. Our 2023 analysis of busking highlighted sound levels exceeding 100 decibels, surpassing the noise of a landing aircraft. The court’s decision that this was intolerable was entirely justified. For those affected by the din, to echo the lyrics, “things can only get better.”
