Kia Unveils the EV4: A New Era in Electric Mobility
At the highly anticipated 2025 Kia EV Day held in Tarragona, Spain, Kia has officially unveiled its inaugural electric sedan and hatchback, known as the EV4. This model was first introduced to the world as a striking concept at last year’s CES, alongside various other vehicles from Kia’s expanding electric lineup. Future owners can select between two battery configurations: a standard 58.3 kWh version and an enhanced 81.4 kWh long-range option. The latter promises an impressive driving range of 630 kilometers (approximately 391 miles) on a single charge for its sedan variant, while the standard battery provides about 430 kilometers (267 miles). Meanwhile, the hatchback boasts a respectable range of up to 590 kilometers (366 miles).
Performance and Specifications
The EV4 incorporates a robust 150 kW motor capable of accelerating from zero to 100 km/h in just 7.4 seconds for the standard model, with slight variations for the long-range version at around 7.7 seconds. Both models feature an electronically governed top speed of up to 170 km/h.
Manufacturing Plans and Market Launch
Kia plans to begin production of the EV4 sedan in South Korea with launch timelines set for March this year. The five-door hatchback will roll off assembly lines in Slovakia later this year specifically targeting European markets. Although details on North American production remain unpublished, Kia has confirmed intentions to bring this innovative vehicle to customers across the United States.
The Introduction of Concept EV2
Alongside launching the EV4 at this significant event, Kia also showcased its Concept EV2—a compact vehicle designed with urban environments in mind (as depicted below). This model features an adaptable interior design complete with folding rear seats aimed at maximizing space efficiency. Kia intends to introduce the Concept EV2 into various markets including Europe starting in 2026.
