18-year-old arrested in deadly Las Vegas shooting

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A teenager accused of murder allegedly robbed and shot a couple selling a gun and then shared photos of himself with the stolen money, documents said.

The shooting happened on Dec. 8 in the 3800 block of Soda Springs Drive near Pecos Road and Cheyenne Avenue. Jermonte Dickerson and Nadia Dickerson were inside a vehicle when several people approached the car and began shooting at them, police said. Nadia Dickerson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police recovered six cartridge casings from the crime scene, they said. Witnesses told police a young woman approached the driver’s side door as at least one other young person approached the car, documents said.

“Witnesses heard someone yell, ‘Give it up.’ or something similar, followed by multiple gunshots,” documents said.

Just before the shooting, Jermonte Dickerson messaged with a person on Instagram about meeting to buy a gun, documents said. The last communication in the message, an Instagram audio call, happened four minutes before the first 911 call.

Jermonte Dickerson told police that right before the shooting, the two young people standing outside the car began to “struggle with Nadia over money she had in her hand,” documents said. “Nadia released the money… and attempted to drive away and the male and female suspect produced handguns and began to shoot Nadia and Jermonte.”

Police tracked the account to Burks, they said. Detectives also accessed messages between Burks and Allen where the pair allegedly discussed robbing Jermonte Dickerson.

After the shooting, Allen allegedly sent a person a video of another person holding large amounts of cash, police said. In the video, Allen “is seated in the back bench seat of [a] vehicle. [He and the other person] are gesturing firing handguns at the camera while imitating the sound of […] machine gun fire, and saying; “switch and [expletive]” and “wish cheese park low,” documents said.

Burke and Allen are also accused of planning a separate armed robbery but “Allen was told not to participate because he just wants to shoot,” police said.

Police arrested Allen on Jan. 27, records said.

“Allen stated that he was part of the robbery and was [supposed] to split the money with the other people involved,” police said. “Allen would not say who the shooter was.”
