Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit, the Prime Minister of Commonwealth of Dominica termed death of former Chief Magistrate and Director of Public Prosecutions as a huge national loss.
Expressing his deep condolences to the family PM Skerrit recalled her great contributions in legal field as chief Magistrate and Director of Public Prosecutions.
PM Skerrit expressed his grief through sharing picture of Evelina Baptiste along with the condolence message on his social media accounts. The post shared by PM stated, “Our Government is deeply saddened by the untimely demise of former Chief Magistrate and Director of Public Prosecutions, Evelina Baptiste. She was one of best legal professional of Dominica who worked selflessly.”
Recalling her legacy, Dominican leader shared, “Evelina Baptiste will be always remembered not just being distinguished legal luminary but also as one who devoted her life to serving the people of Dominica with integrity and excellence.”
He further expressed, the government has extended deep condolences for her family, especially daughter of Evelina Baptiste along with all those who were associated with her at any stage of professional or personal life. Moreover, the government also extended condolences to Cabinet colleague, Chekira Lockhart-Hypolite, her niece.
While remembering her selfless work and service for the people of Dominica, PM equate her as daughter of Dominica. PM also claimed that Evelina Baptiste during her whole career worked without any personal gain and only for public’s welfare.
PM Roosevelt Skerrit advised that everyone should take inspiration from her to work with single mind devotion and with commitment. As per PM, she has set an example for other public servants how they can use their position to bring transformation by working efficiently.
It is to be noted that Evelina Baptiste took her last breath at goodwill hospital where she was admitted few days ago before demise. Moreover, social media users while reacting to PM’s post also expressed sympathy with family and pray for peace of departed soul.
One Facebook user named Hess Baptiste commented, “condolences to her daughter and the entire family.”
