Edinburgh Rugby have announced that Scotland international loosehead prop Pierre Schoeman has signed a three-year deal with the club.
Schoeman has become a key cog in the Edinburgh pack since joining the capital side in 2018 from the Bulls.
He has solidified his status as a fan favourite from the moment he arrived in Edinburgh and in 2021 he qualified for Scotland through residency and has gone on to earn 37 Test caps.
“There were other clubs interested”
Last season, he became Edinburgh Rugby’s 39th centurion, joining front-row legends Allan Jacobsen, Craig Smith, Ross Ford and WP Nel in the coveted ‘centurions club’.
His re-signing follows that of Ben Muncaster and Duhan van der Merwe with the prop confirming that he rejected offers from other clubs as he has ‘unfinished business’ with the Scottish club.
“There were other clubs interested, but I have unfinished business here in Edinburgh. I love this group and we have so much we want to achieve as a team,” he said.
“I look around the changing room and there is so much talent. We’re a family here and I genuinely couldn’t be happier to have re-signed.”
He added: “I’m truly honoured to be staying in Edinburgh for at least another three years.
“My wife Charissa and I have loved every minute of our time here in Scotland and this is home for us now. We have bought a house here and our life is here – it was an easy decision to re-sign with a club that means so much to me.”

“Pierre brings an incredible energy”
Schoeman added that he wants to “leave a lasting legacy” at Edinburgh while head coach Sean Everitt hailed the ‘world-class’ prop’s impact on the team.
“Pierre brings an incredible energy to everything he does, whether that’s in the gym, on the training paddock, or on match day for both Edinburgh and Scotland,” he said.
“He’s developed into a world-class prop and he is a brilliant example for all our younger players because Pierre gives nothing less that 100% – he is fully committed to making himself and the others around him better every day.
He continued: “Pierre is a fan favourite because of his commitment to the jersey and its absolutely brilliant news that we’ve been able to re-sign him on a new long-term deal.
“I’m sure this will be a welcome extra Christmas gift for all our supporters ahead of Saturday’s 1872 Cup decider.”
