Transforming Changbai Mountain: A Model for Ecological Tourism
An Ecological Treasure
Situated in the northern reaches of the Eurasian landmass, Changbai Mountain is home to one of the most pristine forest ecosystems globally. This unique environment is often referred to as an “ecological museum” and serves as a ”gene pool” for biodiversity conservation worldwide.
With a remarkable forest coverage rate of 87.7% and an impressive concentration of negative oxygen ions—reaching up to 120,000 per cubic centimeter, which far exceeds the United Nations’ fresh air standards—Changbai Mountain contributes significantly to ecological health and wellness.
A Winter Wonderland
Aligning geographically with renowned mountain ranges such as the Alps and Rockies, this region boasts consistently cold temperatures that foster a winter climate ideal for powdery snow. Jilin province has emerged as one of China’s leading ski resorts because of this enchanting snowy landscape.
Prioritizing Sustainable Development
Gao Fei asserts that prioritizing high-quality development is crucial while adhering to ecological industrialization and sustainable practices. “Our vision includes establishing five major tourist destinations characterized by international standards in management,” he emphasized.
Harnessing the extraordinary climate combined with rich natural resources, Changbai Mountain aims to develop diverse attractions—including summer retreats, ice sports locales, hot spring wellness centers, cultural heritage spots, and adventure-focused mountain activities.
Adventure Awaits
For outdoor enthusiasts seeking adventure-filled experiences like rock climbing or cycling amidst stunning landscapes, Changbai Mountain offers meticulously planned routes for hiking aficionados along with off-road driving paths. Gao expressed commitment: “Visitor satisfaction remains our core focus; we are devoted to cultivating innovative cultural experiences within our tourism strategy.”
Unique cultural showcases have been developed alongside engaging shopping districts where visitors can enjoy interpretations from local legends infused with historical narratives while experiencing traditional marketplace vibrations on Jin Dynasty Ancient Street.
Promoting Local Products
To further enrich its offering while promoting ecological well-being, regional products include low-deuterium mineral water sourced directly from Changbai Mountain’s springs; health-enhancing cracked spore powder derived from lingzhi mushrooms; refreshing blueberry juice; alongside pure birch sap—all reflecting its commitment toward preserving natural resources.
Commitment to Conservation
The Changbai Mountain Protection and Development Zone places heavy emphasis on safeguarding its exceptional ecosystem through improved protection strategies aimed at conserving biodiversity effectively. Gao highlighted their priorities: “We place significant importance on enhancing conservation awareness through superior protection plans along with bolstered technological assistance.”
Additionally focusing on fire prevention measures creates more resilient environmental safeguards within this treasured landscape—a robust framework intended not only for conservation but also reinforcing Northeast Asia’s ecological barriers comprehensively.
“Our dedication lies in fortifying nature reserves while outlining clear ecological protection demarcations,” further advocated Gao. “Our goal involves making Changbai Mountain shine as an exemplary model exemplifying national efforts towards advanced ecological civilization.”
Han Junhong contributed additional insights into these developments.
