The New York Mets had their longest postseason run in 2024 since losing the World Series in 2015.
After losing the National League Championship Series to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Mets got a glimpse of what it will take to reach the World Series in 2025.
With another strong free agent class led by New York Yankees outfielder Juan Soto, the Mets have some options to improve their team before this coming season.
The Mets recently signed starting pitcher Frankie Montas from the Milwaukee Brewers, but MLB analyst Ryan Spilborghs said he believes they can’t stop there.
“There’s got to be more, there’s got to be a lot more for the Mets,” Spilborghs said, via MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM.

The addition of Montas gives the Mets another veteran in their rotation as Montas has nine MLB seasons under his belt.
He started the 2024 season for the Cincinnati Reds before going over to the Brewers.
Montas started 30 games combined with a record of 7-11 and a 4.84 ERA with 148 strikeouts in 150.2 innings.
Though the addition of Montas is a good one, Spilborghs said he believes the Mets need to do more, possibly hinting at signing Soto.
The Mets have the money to make significant moves this offseason, and owner Steve Cohen will likely do so, whether that is signing Soto or a few other players.
If Soto decides to sign with the team that offers him the most money, then the Mets will have a great shot at landing the slugger.
The Mets will try again to win their first World Series title since 1986 and they may have Soto along for that ride.
