The Toronto Blue Jays missed the postseason for the first time in three seasons after they finished with a record of 74-88.
After losing in the wild-card round the previous two years, the Blue Jays had high hopes for 2024 but ended up in last place in the American League East.
The Blue Jays need to make some moves this offseason if they want to take the division away from the New York Yankees, who made a World Series appearance in 2024.
One way to get the advantage over the Yankees would to be sign one of their best players, Juan Soto, who is a free agent.
While the Yankees and New York Mets appear to be favorites to land Soto, MLB analyst Jim Duquette thinks otherwise.

“You can’t rule out the Blue Jays,” Duquette said, via MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM.

“I’ve heard from many people who think Toronto will be the highest bidder [for Juan Soto].”

Many people believe that the team that ends up signing Soto will be the one that offers him the most money.
Duquette mentions hearing from many people who believe the Blue Jays could be the highest bidder for the superstar.
The addition of Soto would give the Blue Jays a huge edge over the Yankees in one of the most competitive divisions in baseball.
Soto played 157 games for the Yankees in 2024 and batted .288 with 41 home runs, 109 RBIs and a .989 OPS.
A lineup including Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Soto could be just what the Blue Jays need to win their first AL East title since 2015.
