Dutch carrier KLM is set to expand its European network in 2025, with new flights to cities in Slovenia, England and France.
From 30 March the carrier will begin daily flights from Amsterdam Schiphol to both Ljubljana and Exeter.
Services to the Slovenian capital will be operated by Embraer 190 aircraft, while those to Exeter in England’s southwest will be operated by Embraer 175 aircraft.
Meanwhile, seasonal flights from Amsterdam to the French city of Biarritz will begin on 19 April, initially operating twice a week on Embraer 190 aircraft before increasing to a daily service during the summer peak season (30 June to 22 August).
The carrier said the introduction of these new destinations has been made possible by “shifts” in its European route network.
KLM recently criticised the Dutch government’s decision to reduce flight capacity at Schiphol airport by 4.4 per cent in 2025 in an effort to reduce noise pollution.
The carrier said it is already helping to reduce noise at the airport by investing in new quieter aircraft and that limiting the number of flights is “expected to be legally unsustainable”. KLM is “awaiting the advice” of the European Commission, which objected to previous attempts to cut capacity at the airport.
The airport, meanwhile, said it supports the government in maintaining “a good balance between the airport and its surrounding environment” and is using its new regime of airline charges to make operating newer, quieter aircraft “more financially attractive”.
