The Cincinnati Reds had another rough season in 2024 as they missed the postseason for the fourth straight year finishing with a record of 77 wins and 85 losses.
While the Reds have not had success recently, their young and talented roster has shown signs of what they’re capable of and success might be just around the corner.
2025 will see a new face as Manager of the Reds as Veteran Manager Terry Francona joins the organization.
Francona is a three-time Manager of the Year Award winner, and he revealed what he’s learned about the Manager position throughout his career.
“When you’re the Manager, you’re supposed to think of everybody but yourself,” Francona said.
“When you’re the manager, you’re supposed to think of everybody but yourself.”
Francona began his managing career in 1997 with the Philadelphia Phillies and he has also managed the Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Indians/Guardians.
He has won two World Series titles in his career, both coming with the Red Sox in 2004 and 2007.
Francona says that the manager is supposed to think of everybody but themselves and put the team first.
This approach has helped him become the successful manager he is today, and he hopes to take that experience to get the Reds to the next level in 2025.
The Reds don’t have a playoff win in the last 12 seasons, but the young talent on their roster including star shortstop Elly De La Cruz, give them hope for the coming seasons.
Francona has the 13th most wins all time by a manager with 1,950, and the Reds hope that his experience will help them win the National League Central for the first time since 2012.
