“Outta’ my mind on a Monday morning”
Wow — one month until Christmas! But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
This is the start of a great week in its own right. One of our favorite holidays is here Thursday: Thanksgiving Day.
America’s Thanksgiving Parade, presented by Gardner White, steps off at 9 a.m. (I’ll once again host my early Thanksgiving Morning Show from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. on 760 AM WJR Radio and streaming on WJR.COM, with all of the movers and shakers that help Tony Michaels and his parade company team put on America’s best parade.
Later that day, the Lions host the Chicago Bears at Ford Field. Who is lucky enough to be going? It’s on CBS at 12:30 p.m. (for the rest of us…), and then many of us will join or host family and friends for a wonderful feast we give thanks for.
Knowing that there are many around us not so lucky to be a part of such a gathering, years ago, I joined Tom and Vickie Chelani and the Chelani Family Foundation, along with Dario Bergamo, to start “Hunger Free in the D,” an effort whose important goal is simply in its name.
You can join us starting this morning at 9 a.m., tuned into Kevin Dietz on WJR’s “All Talk,” followed by my show “Focus” from 12 to 2 p.m.
There will be some important interviews and many opportunities to call in and help us go, “Hunger Free in the D”. You can even stop by if you’d like at Palazzo di Bocce: 4291 Lapeer Rd., Lake Orion.
***
After a tougher than usual political season, we all need this wonderful holiday where we are grateful and express our gratitude.
(And avoid politics.)
Paul W. Smith is host of “Focus” on WJR-AM (760) from noon to 2 p.m. Monday-Friday.
