The Wrexham Ecology Co-operative includes a collaboration between various organizations such as FI Real Estate Management (Firem), United Environmental Services (UES), Enfys Ecology, North Wales Wildlife Trust, Amphibian and Reptile Conservation, and Butterfly Conservation. Together, they will formulate a comprehensive ecological strategy tailored for the Wrexham Industrial Estate.
This wildlife habitats”>initiative encompasses a series of land surveys aimed at evaluating biodiversity levels. Additionally, it involves crafting a long-term management framework for 75 acres distributed across six locations within the estate — an area that currently hosts over 340 enterprises and employs approximately 16,500 individuals.

Central to this initiative are efforts dedicated to bee preservation along with the planting of wildflowers. Community engagement is also pivotal; collaboration will extend to businesses as well as educational institutions including schools and universities.

A significant investment totaling £350,000 has been allocated toward establishing an ecology zone spanning 30 acres adjacent to Firem’s upcoming venture — a sprawling industrial park covering one million square feet known as Wrexham 1M.
This new project also prioritizes relocating great crested newts found within the estate. This step follows over twenty years from when Wrexham Borough Council first initiated protective measures for this particular species through their action plan.

Future Plans
After conducting its initial meeting recently, plans are set forth for actions spanning the next year where immediate tasks include focusing on the relocation process of newts.
