Analyst Reveals What Areas Cubs Should Improve This Offseason

The Chicago Cubs are one of the only big market teams who don’t appear to be courting the prize of the free agent pool, superstar outfielder Juan Soto, but that doesn’t mean the team isn’t angling to make some significant improvements this offseason.
After a solid 83-79 season, the Cubs are on the way up, and one analyst recently revealed what areas the team should improve upon this offseason.
While speaking on ‘Hot Stove’ on MLB Network, former Cub Ryan Dempster liked the idea of signing a star, particularly at third base, with Alex Bregman mentioned as a possibility, while also mentioning the importance of spending money on the starting rotation.

Matt Vasgersian doesn’t see the Cubs spending big this offseason on Soto, Bregman, or anyone else and thinks the team will continue to grow organically and make improvements in-house.
The Cubs aren’t slated to get pillaged too hard in free agency this offseason, as their best players hitting the open market are Patrick Wisdom, Drew Smyly, Hector Neris, Adbert Alzolay, and Nick Madrigal, as well as Kyle Hendricks, who has already signed with the Los Angeles Angels.
The club acquired Isaac Paredes at the trade deadline this past season, so his presence does make a Bregman signing unlikely unless the team gets creative to accommodate him.
Cody Bellinger’s name has also surfaced in trade rumors, but it’s early in the offseason, and it’s unclear how legitimate those reports are.
It’s still unclear what the Cubs aim to do this offseason, but the hope is that they will aggressively build on their nice 2024 season.
