Macedonia is among the countries with the worst public transport in Europe, according to the research done by Euronews . The survey shows that seven out of ten people in Europe are satisfied with public transport in their city, but there is still a large gap in satisfaction levels with public transport in European cities.
Although in our country, i.e. in the capital, there are only buses for public transport, Macedonia is still among the worst countries with public transport in Europe. Only 47 percent of Macedonians are satisfied with the city’s public transport and only Albania and Italy are more dissatisfied than us.
As the research shows, the highest level of satisfaction with public transport is in Austria – 91 percent.
In the Nordic capitals, the best city transport is in Helsinki, followed by Oslo and Stockholm, closely followed by Copenhagen, with 81 percent satisfaction. The capital of Iceland, Reykjavík, is an exception with a lower satisfaction rate of 56 percent in this region.
When comparing factors such as availability, safety, frequency and reliability, there is a geographic trend where Northern and Western European cities report higher satisfaction with public transport, while Southern and Eastern European cities show lower levels of satisfaction.
