Newcastle United may have received an early advantage ahead of tonight’s 5.30pm kick-off at Goodison Park.
According to The Guardian, Jarrad Branthwaite is a ‘serious doubt’ for the game after suffering a thigh injury in training, while reports in Ukraine say left back Vitaliy Mykolenko will be missing with a calf issue.
Both returned to Sean Dyche’s side last weekend, offering them a huge boost defensively as they beat Crystal Palace 2-1; their first win of the season.
This was Branthwaite’s first outing of the season and a welcome return for their £60m-rated centre-back. Prior to his comeback they’d lost four and drawn one of their opening five games, conceding 14 goals in the process.
The Toffees will already be without defenders Nathan Patterson and Seamus Coleman for the game, meaning Ashley Young and midfielder James Garner could start at full-back.
Of course, we will be without Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson, but Anthony Gordon may be licking his lips at the prospect of facing a patched up Everton back four.
