The Education Department is pleased to announce that Greece has officially deposited its instrument of accession to the Lisbon Recognition Convention (LRC) to the Council of Europe, marking a significant step forward in international cooperation on the recognition of higher education qualifications.
The Lisbon Recognition Convention, which was co-developed by the Council of Europe and UNESCO in 1997, aims to improve academic mobility and facilitate the recognition of qualifications across Europe.
By becoming a party to the LRC, Greece commits to implementing fair and transparent practices for the recognition of academic qualifications, both from other countries and for its own nationals seeking recognition abroad.
The Convention will enter into force for Greece on 1 November 2024.
