In an exciting announcement from the Distinguished Young Women’s organization, Alicia Chu of Newark, Delaware has been crowned the Distinguished Young Woman of America for 2024. This prestigious title comes with a generous cash scholarship of $40,000, awarded to Chu at the 67th Distinguished Young Women National Finals.
The selection process for this honor began in Chu’s hometown of Newark, Delaware, where she stood out as a remarkable candidate. Over the course of the three-night program, Chu excelled in the Self Expression and Talent categories, earning additional cash scholarships totaling $42,000.
The National Finals took place at the Mobile Civic Center in Mobile, Alabama, with the first night of the preliminary program held on Thursday, June 27, followed by the second night on Friday, June 28. Chu’s exceptional performance and dedication set her apart as the deserving winner of this year’s title.
As the Distinguished Young Woman of America for 2024, Alicia Chu will not only be the national representative for the organization but will also be pursuing her academic goals at Harvard University, with the intention of becoming a lawyer. A graduate of Archmere Academy and the daughter of Amy Chu, Alicia Chu has a bright future ahead.
During the National Finals, other participants were recognized for their outstanding achievements, with Nariah Mullins of Knoxville, Tennessee as the First Runner-Up, Haynes Lewis of Greenville, North Carolina as the Second Runner-Up, and Ellen Fei of Kentucky as the Third Runner-Up. In total, $125,500 in cash scholarships was awarded throughout the event.
