Anfield concerts boost local Liverpool economy by £31m

September 17 – Concerts held at Anfield over the past five years have contributed more than £31 million to the local economy and created thousands of jobs, according to a new report by Turley Economics. 
The report highlights the significant economic impact of world-famous artists performing at Liverpool’s Anfield stadium, with nearly half a million people attending 11 concerts by seven different artists since 2019.
Among the headline acts were Taylor Swift, P!nk, The Rolling Stones, and Elton John, with this summer alone attracting over 250,000 visitors for three sold-out Taylor Swift shows as part of her Eras tour, and two nights of P!nk’s Summer Carnival. T
he latest artist announced to perform at Anfield is Dua Lipa, set to take the stage next summer.
The report also reveals that each concert required at least 1,450 staff, 85% of whom were from Liverpool, with more than half under the age of 30. Anfield concerts were paused in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19 restrictions, and in 2023 because of the Anfield Road Stand expansion, which has increased the stadium’s capacity to nearly 61,000.
