Former Newcastle winger Amadou Diallo has sealed a surprise move to French side Bordeaux following the expiration of his contract at St James’ Park this summer, while Dwight Gayle has joined Scottish side Hibernian.
Diallo signed for the Magpies academy team back in October 2022 after spending nine years at West Ham where he was eventually released and snapped up for our U21 side.
For Newcastle, the attacker made his debut for the club against Chelsea last season, coming on as a late substitute during last season’s injury crisis and featuring in our post-season trip to Australia a few months ago.
Now, having been released, the winger has found a new club in Bordeaux, who recently went bust and were relegated to the fourth division in France. The former Ligue 1 giants have suffered a huge fall from grace but have plenty previous with Newcastle, with ex-Mags Yoan Gouffran, Hatem Ben Arfa, Gabriel Obertan, Mathieu Debuchy and Henri Saivet previously playing for the Les Girondis
This news comes after another former Newcastle man landed a new club as 34-year-old Dwight Gayle signed for Scottish Premiership side Hibernian after leaving Derby County in the summer.
We are delighted to announce the signing of striker Dwight Gayle!
Welcome to Hibs, Dwight!
