After being crowned European Champions last month, Spain have also stolen the bragging rights as Olympic champions after a stunning win over home favourites France at the Paris Olympics.
The Spanish Olympic team displayed great grit and spirit throughout the event but three Barcelona stars headlined the lineup in every game.
While Pau Cubarsi and Eric Garcia served as the de facto central defensive pairing for the team, Fermin Lopez ran the show higher up playing as an attacking midfielder.
The trio are now Olympic champions and earned the accolade in some style.
Historic records
The Olympics mandates that all except three players in a team must be under the age of 23. While all three Barcelona stars met the age requirement, Cubarsi unlocked a special achievement last night.
Starting the final at the age of 17 years 6 months and 18 days, the Barcelona defender became the youngest Spanish player in history to win the gold medal at the Olympic games.

Needless to say, that is a massive achievement for a competition where young players are pushed to compete.
Cubarsi was not the only player who made history on the night as Fermin Lopez became Spain’s all-time leading scorer at the Olympics in just his first games.
The midfield phenom scored only once in the group stages but was on fire in the knockouts.
A brace against Japan in the quarterfinal, a goal and an assist in the semifinal against Morocco and a brace in the final last night took his tally to six goals which is more than any Spanish player in Olympic history.
Both players are expected to link up with Barcelona in the coming days. It remains to be seen what Hansi Flick has in store for the golden academy duo.
