Man United were dealt a slight blow on Monday as their list of options for a new centre-back were shortened as Gleison Bremer decided to sign a new long-term contract at Juventus.
The Brazilian had been linked with a move away from the Serie A giants this summer with several teams in the Premier League being linked to the defender.
Man United were one club reportedly showing an interest in the centre-back as Erik ten Hag has been keen to add another in that position to his squad before the summer transfer window shuts.
Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt and Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite are Man United’s two top targets, but the Manchester club do have others on their list and Bremer was believed to be an option.
However, that possibility is no more as the Brazilian star has decided to extend his stay at Juventus by signing a new contract that will be valid until June 2029, the club confirmed on Monday. The 27-year-old’s new deal will also include a €60m (£51m) release clause amid the interest in the defender this summer.
Following this news, the Man United target has been speaking about the interest in him during the summer and why he decided to sign a new deal in Turin.

Speaking about his new deal with Juventus, Bremer has stated that he rejected other clubs to remain with the Italian giants and that new Juve boss Thiago Motta played a big role in convincing him to stay.
“I have rejected other clubs because I’m already at a big club like Juventus and decided to stay here for a long time,” Bremer told La Gazzetta dello Sport via Fabrizio Romano.
“Thiago Motta convinced me. He is ambitious, together we will do great things. I really believe in the new Juventus project.”
