Newcastle United have been in contact with Lille over a potential deal for star striker Jonathan David, according to Jacque Talbot at FootballTransfers.
As revealed by Ben Jacobs earlier this week, Talbot confirms that Newcastle are admirers of the 24-year-old Canadian who has just returned from Copa America after a 2-0 defeat to Argentina in Tuesday’s semi-final.
He reports that we have ‘made an enquiry’ to understand the conditions of any deal and appreciate his versatility, but Chelsea have also shown interest in the striker after 26 goals and nine assists last season.
Talbot then names four players on our radar as we search for a new right-winger, with Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, Leeds’ Crysencio Summerville, Wolves’ Pedro Neto and Chelsea’s Noni Madueke all ‘liked’ by the club but yet to be formally approached.
As for outgoings, he adds that there’s growing confidence that star trio Alexander Isak, Bruno Guimaraes and Anthony Gordon are going nowhere this summer.
Just on Mbeumo – understand Liverpool not involved, but obviously Toney being sold could make deal tricky.
